Battery Strekdammen

Pondera Development and Rebel have been granted the permit for a battery of 5 MW at the Eemshaven. Following the wind turbine development by Pondera Development and Rebel, a contracted grid connection with Enexis of a capacity of 15 MW was realised. This ‘excess’ capacity will be used by the BESS (Battery Energy Storage System) to provide services to the electricity market. 

Energy storage is crucial for the energy transition and this development allows both parties to use the excess grid capacity, provide services to the market whilst learning more about energy storage development.
